Jaeger-LeCoultre SA, or simply Jaeger-LeCoultre, is Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer based in Le Sentier, Switzerland. Founded in 1833 by Antonie LeCoultre, the company is famous for its hand made watch, designed and produced within its own workshops.

Introducing The Master Ultra-Thin

Inspired by the world’s thinnest pocket watch that to this date holds the record, Edmond Jaeger, a watchmaker of French Navy challenged Swiss manufacturer to develop and produce the ultra-thin movements that he had invented.

The challenge was accepted by Jacques-David LeCoultre, grandson of Antonie LeCoultre. This led to the manufacture of the collection of ultra-thin pocket watches, including the world’s thinnest that was equipped with the LeCoultre Calibre 145.

Following this event, in 1937, the collaboration between Edmond Jaeger and Jacques-David LeCoultre led to the renaming of the manufacturer to Jaeger-LeCoultre, which was then printed on the dials.

Maintenance

Manual Winding

Being a manual-winding watch, it is recommended to wind your luxury watch every day in order to supply the movement with the power it required to run effectively over the following 24 hours. It is advised to do so even if you are not wearing it every day.

Only wind your Jeager-LeCoultre until you feel the resistance and do not try to wind it beyond the point of resistance as it might cause the motor spring to snap.

Magnetic Resistance

A strong magnetic field may also hamper the movement of the watch making it completely stop or have disturbance in the movement. Worry not as the disturbance will only last while the watch is in the influence of the magnetic field.
